| |
| Students holding a non-British or non-EU passport planning to go and study in the UK require a prior entry clearance visa from the British High Commission. British High Commission is now offering a new service named VFS (Visa Facilitation Services) under which personal interview is not necessary primarily. The applicant can apply for the visa under this service and if the case is clear-cut, then the passport will be sent back to him/her with the visa stamped on it. However, if the documents submitted by the student do not satisfy the High Commission, then the commission will call the applicant at the respective visa office for further interviews. The VFS can be availed at Ahmedabad, Chandigarh , Jalandhar, New Delhi , Mumbai and Hyderabad . |

| Immigration Rules for Students |
| All students must adhere to immigration rules in order to be eligible for a visa. The following rules must be borne in mind while applying for a visa : |
- You must intend to study at a publicly funded university or college, a bonafide private institution or a fee-paying independent school.
- You must be able to and intend to follow a full time degree course, or a weekday, full time course at a single institution involving at least 15 hours of organized, daytime study per week.
- You must be able to pay for your course and the living expenses of your husband or wife and children (if they are with you) without working in UK or claiming public funds.
- You must not intend to work in UK unless you are accepted for a course lasting longer than six months, when you may work part-time or during vacations.· You must intend to leave UK at the end of your studies.

| The students must submit his application in person at the visa office with the following documents. The processing can take three to four working days. The students need to keep in mind that they need to apply for their visas one month prior to their course commencement. |
